Loot Crate: Monthly Subscription Box for Gamers, Guys, Geeks and More!

Subscription boxes are all the rage and I love love love them.  Most the ones I have seen are beauty or pet related so when I heard about Loot Crate I was more than intrigued.

For a little over $18 a month you receive 6-8 products that are considered 'Geek and Gaming Gear'.  I love that this box is geared towards guys (and girls who game, as well).  I feel like this is a completely new concept (at the very least, new to me) and truly a unique gift idea.  The past crates were all really cool looking and I was a little bummed I'd only recently found Loot Crate (I missed out of some awesome gear- stuff I know my Hubs and kids would've liked, but even stuff I wished I had for myself!).

My crate did arrive quickly and although I had planned to wait until Hubs came home, I tore it open. I couldn't contain myself, don't judge me! I caught glimpses of Thor, Yoda and Sonic and knew right away I loved this subscription!

Loot Crate is celebrating their 1 year anniversary! Use the code CAKE to receive 12% off

CapThat: Wedding Photo on Wood

I got the opportunity to check out a new-to-me site CapThat and to share the experience of ordering and my thoughts on the product I received.

First and foremost, I noticed the cool options, like a photo on metal or wood.  There's also all different sizes available and even custom sizing on some products like the canvas prints.  There's accessories like playing cards, puzzles, coffee mugs and more.  You can take photos straight from Facebook, Instagram or upload from your computer.

I wanted a wedding photo to put up in my home office space and I was torn between a metal print and a wood print.  After going back and forth I decided I liked the rustic look for the photos on the wood and thought it'd look great about my desk.  I picked one of my favorite wedding shots and uploaded it right onto the site.  It took just minutes to create my piece and checkout.  It really helped that I could see a preview of the product as I uploaded and edited.

My 7x7 wood print is now hanging above my desk and I love it.  It's really unique and these would make a wonderful gift.

Cross Country Cafe: Deals on K-Cups and More

I live off coffee.  I don't just enjoy it occasionally, I look forward to it each morning.  Hubs and I were so lucky to receive a Keurig as a wedding gift a few months back and I started buying up K-cups!  I did find that they could certainly add up; but I kept looking for amazing deals (hey, it's what I do) and I found Cross Country Café.  This site has smoking deals on K-cups, whole bean or ground coffee and even brewers.  I love the selection of K-cups and when I saw the Donut House Chocolate Glazed Donut flavor I knew it'd be good.  I was right!  So right, in fact, that I catch Hubs brewing up my cups! Just kidding, of course, what's his is mine and what's mine is mine....hehehe.

Donut House Chocolate Glazed Donut
The clearance section is ever changing and can get you K-cups at a steal of a price but even the regularly priced options are the cheapest I've found.  These cost $13.75 for a 24 pack.  That's .57cents per cup.  Plus, spend $59.00 or more items and your coffee ships for free!!

There's also Wacky Wensdays, where there is a featured product at an amazing price.  Connect with Cross Country Café via Facebook for up to date deals!

Baby G's 2nd Birthday at AZ Air Time (Ball/Sports Themed)

AZ Air Time Family Fun for All Ages!

We recently celebrated my youngest child's 2nd birthday.  I lovingly call him Baby G here on this site and I can't believe my "Baby" isn't such a baby anymore.  Birthdays are bitter sweet, but I love planning parties, making memories and celebrating my kiddos.

Baby G had his party at AZ Air Time in Scottsdale (there's a Tucson location coming soon too!), which I found through good old fashion Googling.  I used the virtual tour option and loved what I saw; trampolines everywhere, with foam pit, basketball, dodge ball and more.  Our family has many cousins ranging in ages from 1 to 13 years old and AZ Air Time was perfect to entertain all of them (and the adults too!).   There is a whole section for younger kids and adults or older siblings are allowed in only if they are assisting a child 6 or younger, perfect!  This is where Baby G spent most of his time, on the 2 inflatable bounce housed (complete with slides and basketball hoop) and on the trampolines specifically for toddlers and preschoolers.

The older kids (and adults) had a BLAST in the foam pit- it was an overall favorite among our group.  I am usually running around at parties, making sure everyone and everything is taken care of but our hostess was wonderful and since she was on top of it all I got the chance to get in on the fun, too!  The basketball area was a work out but such fun.  Baby G's grandma was convinced she'd get a slam dunk; she got close but she'll have to head back to AZ Air Time to keep practicing! My two oldest (Jelly Bean who's 11 and K who's 4) loved racing in the main trampoline area and there was plenty of room for everyone. I'd worried about how busy it might be on a Saturday afternoon with younger kids, but it was great!

Our guest count was at 18 kids and parents who'd RSVPed 'Yes'.  We ended up with 6 kids (don't get me started; 11 of the missing kids were no call/no shows); but the kids that came had the best time.  I loved watching them all exercise, laugh, explore and really make the most of this unique location.

The party location we picked was the semi-private option, decided upon because of the number of guests we (thought) we'd have.  It was perfect and they'd set up the space in the colors I'd chosen when booking the party and again, the hostess was wonderful at directing guests after checking in and just generally taking good care of us.  This was one of the easiest birthday parties I've ever planned.  I brought cake, favors and a few 'themed' decorations but that was it, they took care of everything from start to finish.  We had the party mid-afternoon so we didn't serve food, but you certainly could!  Simply call up and let them know the week of the party and again, they take care of it all. It was all completely stress free.

Jelly Bean immediately asked if we can go back- explaining she'd be "super healthy" if she was able to go to AZ Air Time "everyday!".  With summer temperatures reaching 120 here in Phoenix and Scottsdale; this indoor location is wonderful!  Don't get me wrong; you'll sweat if you participate, but you don't have to, there's free WiFi and seating areas for grownups, too! They offer trampoline workouts and I think I may just have to check it out!

Looking for a fun spot to take the kids for a couple hours?  Want a unique and awesome birthday party experience?  Looking for a new workout regimen?  Whatever it is; I highly recommend AZ Air Time.  The staff was wonderful and Baby G's 2nd birthday party was easy and by far one of the best party experiences we've had (truthfully, AZ Air Time and the fun the kids had helped me forget about the bunch of family members who never bothered to call or show up; well at least for the time we were there! Can you tell I'm upset still?  This is not the first incident and it's usually the same family members each time, but I digress.)

You can find AZ Air Time online, Twitter and Facebook (like them for up to date info and deals- while your there let them know LLandLoL sent you)!  Remember this place for when your kids are bored or when you are planning your next birthday party.  You will not be disappointed.

Share some ideas for birthday party themes below!

***Disclaimer: Some aspects of our party were commentary.  As always, my opinions are 100% my own.  Just take a look at those kiddos faces if you doubt the amount of fun they all had! :) If you have more questions regarding this please check out: http://www.lovinglifeandlivingonless.com/p/disclosure-and-policies.html

28 Day Proskins Challenge!

I'm not going to lie when I heard about Proskins Anti-Cellulite Leggings I got super excited.  I heard there was a 28 Day Challenge; basically, where the leggings for at least 8 hours a day for 28 days (you can even where them overnight!) but I think they are cute so I started wearing them over long tunic type shirts.  I'm sure I'll wear them at night too, since I can't wear leggings everyday and in AZ the temp is reaching the 120s and I will not be layering these (or anything) under pants!

I'm sure a change in eating habits and workout regime will help these leggings do there work in helping me lose inches.  But for the most part I'm planning to keep my regular lifestyle; to really see what these babies can do!  I'm super excited to try these out and share with you my findings along they way.  I'll let you know next week if there is any change in my measurements.

I'm no scientist and I've only heard of a handful of these items but I like what I'm seeing here. This is  what the tag says "How Does it Work?" (of course it went into much greater detail):
Caffeine, Retinol, Ceramides, Vitamin E, Aloe Vera and Fatty Acids.

Despicable Me 2

My whole family has be excited for Despicable Me 2 to come out this summer.  The first one is one we enjoy often in our home- it's got a perfect mix for adults and kids to both enjoy.  Plus, Hubs and I think Steve Carell (Gru) is hilarious!

Depicable Me 2 starts where the first left off;  Gru is focusing on being a dad to his girls, Margo, Edith and Agnes.  After some suspicious activity (an entire top secret lab is stolen!) the Anti-Villain League recruits Gru and teams him up with Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wig) to find out who the culprit is. Gru focuses his attention on Eduardo, a restaurant owner that Gru is convinced is actually the presumed dead super villain 'El Macho'.  Side note: Eduardo's son has been flirting with Margo.  It seems Gru's obsession with 'El Macho' (and his son) stems from his desire to protect his eldest daughter so the Anti-Villain League ignores Gru's accusations and claims.

Jelly Bean (my 11 year old daughter) thought Despicable Me 2 was even better than the first!  We certainly had laugh out loud moments and giggled throughout the movie.  I completely related to Gru regarding Margo and her seemingly overnight teenage behavior (I did mention I have an 11 year old girl, right?).  The minions are still has adorable and silly as ever, although they start to disappear (or are they being kidnapped!?) throughout the movie.  I loved seeing more sides to Gru- watching him relate to his daughters and to his new partner Lucy was refreshing and sweet.

This is definitely a movie I recommend for the whole family!  It's perfect for all ages.  My 4 year old is begging me to take him and I think my 2 year old would love it, too.  Definitely, check it out!

***Disclaimer: I was able to take my daughter to a pre-screening of this movie to write this review. If you have more questions regarding this please check out: http://www.lovinglifeandlivingonless.com/p/disclosure-and-policies.html

Dish Washing Made Easy With Cascade Platinum! #Sponsored Post

We bought our home two years ago and the first appliance purchase I've ever made was a dishwasher for our new home.

I will admit in the past I have used only dishwashing soaps that were on sale paying little to no attention to the quality.  After all, dishwashing soap is dishing washing soap, right?  Boy, was I wrong!

I started noticing the need to run a load two time or hand wash certain items after it ran.  I also know that Hubs refuses to pre-wash.  He says what's the point of washing before you wash them?  I get it- kinda like cleaning the house before a housekeeper comes (not that I know that luxury well or anything, but you get the idea!).

Then I saw the cool design and awesome facts of Cascade Platinum  and was really excited to try it.  Mom Central Consulting sent me a pack of 14 and I opened it right away (I do a load of dishes a day it seems like).  The small squares really pack a punch! I'm already in love with the grease fighting power of Dawn and the Cascade Platinum has that quality right in the small pouch.  I didn't need to run my washer twice and my dishes came out sparkling.

The biggest thing for me is eliminating the need to nag Hubs about pre-washing the dishes!  There's no need to even think about prewashing anymore.  Cascade Platinum gets rid of the worse kind of stuck on food, too.  Dried spaghetti sauce or clumps of unused catsup (my kids request it but rarely use it)? No problem.  I love that!

I try to include a lot of recipe posts on my site.  I personally love to cook and bake and love finding new (and easy) recipes.  With recipe sharing come food photos!  I love that I have sparkling dishes and clean for photos and presentation.  Cascade Platinum has teamed up with Gail Simmons (one of my favorite judges on Top Chef) to share why presentation is important and how Cascade Platinum can really help put 'your best food forward'.

Check out the fun Instagram #MyPlatinum and @MyCascade Contest! Two weekly winners and one final grand prize winner will be picked! Check out the rules and guidelines- I'll be entering!

Want to know more about Cascade Platinum?  Check them out on Facebook!

Disney Pixar: Monsters University

'Scaring' My Thoughts With You!

I feel like I'm been seeing trailers for Monsters University for over a year now.  The anticipation was building and I was like a kid waiting for Christmas to hear more news about it's release.  I am a HUGE Monsters Inc. fan, the movie was adorable and humorous and all around a winner.  So I had high expectations for the prequel 'Monsters University'.

Summer Series: Build-A-Bear (ColorPopz)!

On our summer bucket list I included Build-A-Bear.  I knew the kids would go crazy for this idea and I was right!  If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram you already saw what a good time we had!

I follow Build-A-Bear on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so I knew there was a new line out called ColorPopz.  I thought these would be perfect for summer with the bring colors and fun choices.  I thought each kid would pick one of the three ColorPopz choices but I was wrong.  Baby G wanted the same one big brother K picked.  Duh, Mom.  That really shouldn't have been a surprise at all!

When my box came for May I was super excited.  I mean, this is the kind of mail I should be getting! Not bills and junk mail! I've been pleased with my Starbox each month since I started subscribing and this month is no different. The subscription costs $15/month plus shipping.

The box is adorable!  I love it!  The theme this month was Tribal.  The box was about accessorizing with makeup.

Granite Gold: Natural Cleaner

When we bought this house two years ago the previous owners had installed a natural stone counter top in the kitchen.  It's not exactly what I would've picked, given the chance, but it's nice and it seems to be hand placed.  One day I'd love to have granite counter tops- hey, a girl can dream right?!

Granite Gold cleaning products aren't just for granite, though.  It's a line of natural cleaners that not only cleans the surface of natural stone- it also protects and is meant to extend the life of the stone, as well.  I can definitely tell you it cleans wonderfully- with no harsh smell.  The products are non-toxic, which is a big deal with the little ones running around.

I was sent the Granite Gold Specialty Cleaner and a new product called Granite Gold Disinfecting Wipes.  The cleaner is gentle and won't scratch surfaces and can be used on glass, mirrors, faucets, appliances and stainless steel (again, a girl can wish, right!?).

The wipes are great for all sorts of cleaning tasks in the kitchen, bathroom and even playroom. I've been using them mostly in the bathrooms on the door-knobs and faucets because the wipes are 99.9%  effective at killing household bacteria.

Granite Gold isn't just for those lucky few with granite kitchen counters!  You can find Granite Gold online and in retail stores (like Bed Bath and Beyond)locator.

Build-A-Bear Ring BEARer Alternative

I recently got married (you can check out the other posts regarding my wedding and the planning process here) and now that the photos are in and the dust has settled I wanted to share what I think is my awesome ring bearer alternative!

My kids first experienced Build-A-Bear at a birthday party last year and K still sleeps with the white bear he named Brownie every night.  When I started planning I knew I wanted my kids to walk down the aisle and wanted the boys to be our ring bearers.  I knew they might get nervous or scared walking down the aisle and I was worried the rings might be too big of a responsibility for my 1 and 4 year old.  I found great ring bearer boxes that were beautiful but just didn't seem right. Until I had a light bulb moment.  Build-A-Bear bears for the boys to carry to help ease any anxiety they might have and also, to capture some adorable photos of them with their bears.

Luckily for me, Build-A-Bear has a groom bear available; but this would be great with any animal they offer.  It'd be fun to take the kids to a Build-A-Bear Workshop nearby and let them make their own, too.

The photos that were captured (the chapel photographer only got one of my children walking down the aisle which was really upsetting but my family and friends were able to grab a few throughout the evening :)) were really cute and my concept worked perfectly.  We tied the rings around the one my four year old carried and it was easy for Hubs to remove when the time came.

Baby G loves his bear!

**Disclaimer: My boys received these bears as a gift from Build-A-Bear.  My opinions are my own. If you have more questions regarding this please check out: http://www.lovinglifeandlivingonless.com/p/disclosure-and-policies.html

Starlooks April Box

I know, I know.  It's almost mid-May and I'm just now posting my Starlooks April Box thoughts!

When I opened the box (which costs only $15/month) I was a little perplexed.  I wasn't sure how I felt about the products. The theme for April was neutrals.  And the retail value of this box was $50.

I Wrapped Using It Works!

My friend from high school started posting about It Works! Wraps and other products a while back on Facebook.  I (like most, I'm sure) was skeptical and usually kept on scrolling, despite the before and after photos.

When my wedding started fast approaching I thought back to the posts I'd seen and started asking her some questions.  I had worried it was simply water weight you lost and thought it'd return within days.  I learned that for the wrap to actually work, you had to drink A LOT of water during and after wrapping- so it wasn't water weight.  Hmmm. Ok, I figured I had nothing to lose, so I tried it.

Wedding Bouquets (Etsy Love:SpringDews)

I knew from day one I didn't want live flowers at my wedding.  There are a few reasons:
1) Flowers are expensive
2) (cut) Flowers Die and I hate the idea of cutting flowers to have them look pretty for a day.

I had grand plans of making my bouquets.  I considered a brooch bouquet and recycled paper flowers and started researching how-tos.  And then the reality of time set in and I realized I didn't want that added stress! So I set out to find an inexpensive and beautiful alternative.

I went to one of my favorite sites and started searching all around Etsy.  I quickly realized brooch bouquets were WAY out of my price range.  Which was ok, because I started to worry to bling of a brooch bouquet would compete with my dress.

I found SpringDews and loved what I saw- the prices where great and the bouquets were gorgeous.  I asked the owner if she could work in some recycled and reused paper and she obliged!  I told her my wedding colors and what I was looking for in bouquets.  I wanted the bridesmaids and maid of honor to have different bouquets and Jelly Bean to have one similar to mine (but smaller).

I loved what she came up with!  They truly were perfect.  One of my bridesmaids is now using hers as a centerpiece in her home and I plan to display Jelly Bean's and mine in our home, too!

I highly recommend SpringDews! You can order bouquets, single flowers, boutonnieres and more.  The single ones are perfect for DIY bouquets and crafts or you can get something custom made, like I did. She offers paper and fabric!

nuNAAT Brazilian Keratin Collection

My hair is naturally waving with a bit of frizzy and crazy thrown in for good measure.  I abused my hair for YEARS and in turn I get wacky somewhat kinky hair.  Boo...if I knew then what I know now...

Anyway, nuNAAT Brazilian Keratin Collection is a whole line of hair products I've been looking for!

  • Works with all hair types
  • Repairs cuticle damage
  • Regenerates and strengthens hair fibers
  • Restores natural shine and softness
  • Seals hair cuticles
  • Reduces volume and frizz
  • Makes hair resilient and healthy
  • Formaldehyde and sodium chloride free
This 5 products work together to create beautiful, smooth and healthy hair.  I love the Hair Mask.  It's thick, smells nice and works wonders on my mess of a head.  Jelly Bean's hair is naturally curly and she's been using the Leave-In after showering in her damp hair and it's doing wonders to keep her hair smooth and moisturized.

I would definitely recommend this line to anyone; whether they have self inflicted hair damage (coloring, straightening etc) or if your hair just need that extra boost of healthy shine.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Found Item Clothing

As a child of the 80s there are far too many shirts at Founditemclothing.com that bring back fond memories.  Searching through the pages of '80s Tshirts I saw so many wonderful reminders of movies like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, GI Joe, The Goonies, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and so many more!  Are you taking a stroll down memory lane now too? I'll let you take a moment....

I had K help me pick out a shirt for Hubs-To-Be and myself and he was admit that his Mom and Dad get the super hero ones he saw!  I thought this Batman T-Shirt (Only $9.95!) and Wonder Woman Shirt were great because with two young boys you it's just a matter of time until a super hero party is requested (or a super hero Halloween family theme).

Many of these shirts have the option of choosing a larger size (up to a 2XL) and the women's shirts go up to an XL.  These shirts are quality made and so SOFT!!  Hubs-To-Be got lots of compliments when he rocked his and mine was so comfy with a pair of jeans.  An added bonus was seeing the kids smile when they noticed that Mom and Dad were 'cool' and wearing super hero clothing.

Eye of Horus: Review and GIVEAWAY!

Eye of Horus recently sent me some of the amazing products they carry on their website (you can read my Disclosure and Policies if you have questions regarding review items- all opinions are 100% my own).

Arguably, one of my favorite parts of doing my makeup is the fun you can have with your eyes.  I love changing up my look by using different techniques and products on my eyes.  Because of this I have tried many many (did I say many?) different eye cosmetics.  I can honestly say Eye of Horus is one of my favorite eyeliner brands and the Natural Smokey Pencil is one I use almost daily.  The liner comes with a smudger on one side and the wonderfully pigmented waterproof formula on the other.

The mascara is another one of my favorites- it's also made with natural waxes and oils and assists in lash growth along with coating my lashes evenly to make them appear thicker. This product works with your natural lashes to enhance them!

Eye of Horus uses ancient Egyptian formulas and ingredients, including natural waxes and oils.  These products are free of nasty chemicals and the products are not tested on animals.  The packaging of Eye of Horus uses the ancient Egyptian symbol which represents health, regeneration and protection- this symbol is said to ensure wisdom, prosperity and healing the the bearer.  Eye of Horus is based in Australia so the easiest way to get it is online and you can find them on Facebook, too.  Another way to ger your own? By winning it! Keep reading :)

You can win the Ultimate Goddess Gift Pack- Mascara, Smokey Eye Pencil, Cloth, Mirror, Sharpener and Carrying Purse (a retail value of $89!!)

Movie Review: ADMISSION

I took my cousin (who's also my Maid of Honor) on a 'date' to see the pre-screening of ADMISSION (directed by Paul Weitz) the other day.  I was extremely excited as I am a huge Tine Fey and Paul Rudd fan.  I had high hopes for this romantic comedy and it definitely delivered the goods.

The two played well together and I enjoyed the comedic timing of both.  They are both well known for comedy and this film had some laugh out loud moments paired with some tug-at-the-heart-strings ones, too.

Tina Fey plays Portia, an admission officer at Princeton and Paul Rudd plays opposite her as John Pressman, a teacher from a new high school with it's first graduating class.  An interesting story line kept me intrigued which includes a hidden secret from Portia's past; a possible biological son graduating and applying to Princeton. And the outrageous cast of characters in Portia and John's lives(think awkward moments with the ex that cheated and crazy mother with her own secret) kept me entertained.

We both enjoyed it and I'd recommend it for a date night with friends or your significant other.  It's really one of those romantic comedy films that works both ways.  I hope I'll be seeing Tina Fey and Paul Rudd together again soon! This movie opened nation wide 3/22/13!

***Disclaimer: I was able to see the prescreening of this movie as a member of the press.  My opinions are 100% my own.

RedEnvelope Review: Family Tree Keepsake Box

My wedding is coming up quickly and my brain is obsessed.  When I got the chance to pick an item from RedEnvelope to review I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to find a perfect personalized 'family' (read: New Last Name- I'm excited!) product for our home. (LLandLoL Disclosures and Policies)

The choices at RedEnvelope are abundant.  Deciding on the family oriented piece was hard...I waivered between about 6 different options!  Truthfully, searching through all the categories made me start to consider just getting Hubs-To-Be a personalized gift (there's a whole 'For Him' section) but decided this time around I wanted something for ME US....

This Family Tree Keepsake Box is perfect!  I definitely wanted to personalize the  and opted to put my soon-to-be new last name (have I mentioned I'm obsessed?).  I love the quote engraved on the top of this wooden box it says "Treat Your Family Like Friends and Your Friends Like Family".

The box came quickly and was certainly high quality!

Check out all the amazing, well made personalized and unique gifts on RedEnvelope!
