Wedding Favors from Totally Promotional

Our wedding isn't very traditional in the sense that we won't be having a 'reception' they way most people think of a reception.  Instead we'll be taking our guests to one of our favorite places to eat in Las Vegas (and a place we happened upon on our very first vacation together 5 years ago).  After dinner we're hosting a Las Vegas Strip Tour with drinks and music and sightseeing.  The bus doesn't allow glass so we'll be hosting our bar on the bus with mostly cans (we can't afford alcoholic drinks at dinner, as of now, it's tough but I'm letting go of the idea that we need to offer drinks with dinner.  We can offer what we can afford, and that's ok).  Side note:  did you know there are lots of great options in cans and pouches now-a-days!  I was worried we'd only be able to offer beer but that's not the case!

Anyway, can koozies are really popular in some parts of the country but really here, I've never seen them.  I thought wedding koozies would be a really cute touch for our strip tour and went on the hunt to find reasonably priced one with a design I liked in our wedding colors.  Totally Promotional has everything you can imagine and they can put any logo on items like lip balm, drawstring bags and can covers (or Koozies)! They have wedding items and other promotional items (I think LLandLoL merchandise would be fun ;)).  I checked around and the pricing was comparable to other websites but a few things set Totally Promotional apart.

First, they had no 'set up' fee.  Many of the websites I came across charge a big chunk for the customization part of the printing.  Second, each order came with special Bride and Groom koozies at no extra charge. And lastly, I worked with someone closely during my ordering process. The account representative informed me I could choose  two designs and print one on each side!  Awesome!  I picked my two favorite designs, chose the colors for the background and the imprinting and sent the order in.

The arrived quickly and were better than I had imagined!  I can't wait to give these out on our Las Veags Strip Tour!

PetFlow: Spoiled Rotten Dog Box

If you've read the blog before you know I love subscription boxes.  Usually, I talk about the various kinds of makeup and beauty boxes but this one is all about the fur-kids!  PetFlow offers Spoiled Rotten Dog or Cat boxes which are perfect to show your furry member of the family just how special they are.

Our Lola is absolutely considered a member of our family and I was so happy to be able to get this box for her.  Boxes are shipped out once a month and they are packed full of all sorts of fun surprises.  This box included, an adorable cow toy, two gourmet beef bones, teeth cleaning gel by Tropiclean (which Lola really needs!) and two kinds of treats; Lunther's Nuggets, and mini Yumzies (bacon flavor).

This box was worth well over the subscription price of $24.99 and Lola surely did feel Spoiled Rotten.  The kids had fun having her do tricks for treats and she didn't seem to mind one bit!  We haven' given her the cow toy for fear that she'll consider similar toys fair game and that could make for some sad kiddos.  No worries though!  We know many families with dogs who would love this adorable cow so we might just give it to one of them (and truth be told, my youngest has taken a liking to this little dog toy!).

The Color Run Really is The Happiest 5K on the Planet

I shared my excited about doing The Color Run awhile back and in that post I was trying to decide on a team name for my bridal party.  We ended up being team Wedding Belles; how cute right?!  The days leading up to the run where really rainy here in Phoenix, which is very unusual.  I hadn't really considered what would happen if it rained run day.

I went with two ladies in my bridal party to pick up our racing packets at a store close to where the race is held (I only have 3 in my bridal party but the 3rd was working and decided to pick hers up the next day).  The packets consisted of a Color Run tattoo, a headband, a shirt, our bibs and a packet of color.  We found out that The Color Run continues in rain or shine so that put me at ease a bit.  I thought it wouldn't be so bad doing the race in a small sprinkle of water...

I took the old school sweater off and had a BRIDE shirt on
Come Saturday morning I wake up to realize it's been raining all night!  We decided to brave the weather and head to the race location; again three of us carpooled and planned to met the 4th member of our team there.  We got to the race and parked closer than I thought we'd be able to.  For those of you familiar with this area, the race began at Tempe Town Lake/Mill Ave Bridge.  It was raining pretty heavily so I called my last teammate and told her where to meet us, letting her know I wouldn't be bringing my phone.  Knowing my luck it'd be the only phone drenched.  I wasn't able to bring my camera either and was bummed but figured I could take before and after photos with my phone at the car.

Unfortunately, when we got there my 4th member was no where to be found.  Apparently the rain and cold was too much for her!  So team Wedding Belles was a team of three.  We started the race and hit pink first on our walk/run.  We ran parts of the race but walk the majority of it.  The color stations are crazy but so fun!  The volunteers are there throwing this powder color on you as you run through the area.  It was hilarious!  The rain made it a super messy experience but it also added to some of the fun!  Throughout the 5K there are three stations; pink, yellow, orange and blue.

At the orange station a family asked me to take photos of them while I waited for a teammate to use the restroom.  The woman was so kind and asked if she could take a photo of us and text or email it to me later!  The people participating in this run were all friendly and whenever they saw our shirts (Bride, Maid of Honor and Bridesmaid shirts) they would say something nice or congratulate me.  It really was 'The Happiest 5k on the Planet'.  Blue was last and because of the rain had become a complete puddle/lake of blue dye water.  My shoes and feet got soaked through making for an uncomfortable last part of the race.  We powered through and reached then end where we ended to the DJ and stage to engage in the dance party color craze.  The green color was here at the stage and while dancing, jumping and singing we got dowsed in green from head to toe!  In the rain and mud and layers of color, it truly was an awesome experience.

I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it but we all did and I'm so proud.  We're on the hunt for the next fun 5K to do! I really recommend this to anyone- I saw everyone from babies to seniors of all fitness levels!

Wedding Shoes: Konvine

I have found my perfect wedding shoes!!  I have been searching and searching and believe me it's been difficult.  At first I was searching for very small heels.  Hubs-To-Be is only a few inches taller than me and I didn't want to tower over him on our wedding day.  I was having a really really hard time finding 2 inch (or less) heels that I liked.  They just aren't a style I usually purchase or wear and they all just looked 'wrong' to me.  I decided flats were the way to go and began my search again.

Konvine Rollup Flats were created to alleviate the pain that heels can cause throughout the day, nights out, dates or even on your wedding day!  They roll up small and can fit in little purses to help your tired toes. The sole is sturdy and non-slip you can use these as regular shoes, as well, not just as a backup plan.  This is what I'll be doing.  I will be using these shoes as my wedding day shoes and I'm ecstatic.  They are beyond comfortable.  Sometimes with flats I get rubbing on my heels but the way these are designed there is no rubbing- they are soft and form to fit.

Comfy shoes are a must in my day to day life, too.  They have so many styles and cute charms on them.  These are fashionable shoes with none of the discomfort.  You could wear theses with jeans, shorts, dresses and skirts.  You can definitely dress them up or down.  My bridesmaids are really wishing they made these shoes in an orange color (my wedding color)!  Even though there is no orange, you can find many other colors, camo, skulls, silver, hearts, leopard and many many more!

Soda Stream Where Have You Been All My Life?!!

I recently got a Soda Stream (Genesis) and I am obsessed.  Let me explain.  I am a soda drinker.  I drink far too much soda and won't go into details for fear you may judge me, but I'll simply state: I know it's not right, but I drink it quite often.  I usually buy cans of soda when they are on sale and my go-to is diet anything.

I have heard of Soda Stream, as you probably have too, but I never really thought it was a product for me.  I love my soda and I always thought the sodas and drinks wouldn't taste right coming from something like this.  Until I started realizing my soda habit was really eating into my grocery budget.  Those little cans are adding up.  Plus there's the eco-factor.  Even with recycling it doesn't feel right to be buying tons and tons of aluminum cans.  I've (mostly) made the switch to reusable water bottles but didn't think it was possible to use 'reusable' soda containers...

Then I got this magically little machine.  My soda tastes amazing and Hubs-To-Be made the comment it tastes fresh, I couldn't agree more! It's ridiculously easy and so convenient.  Truthfully, I'm wondering why I haven't made the switch sooner.  Setting it up was easy, I put the CO2 can in the machine, that was it.  I used the provided bottles and filled with cold water to the line and then attached the bottle to the machine.  There's a button on top you press to get the carbonation and it makes a loud buzzing when the pressure is just right.  I like to add more carbonation on fruit flavors- it just tastes so good with all those bubbles!  To add the flavor/syrups you tilt the bottle and add a cap full (or the sample size) slowly.  Then seal the bottle up and give it a gentle shake to move the flavors all around.  Then it's ready to drink!

We tried Naturally Sweetened Cola flavor first, then a Sparkling Natural Black Currant and Pear and last night I had Fountain Mist.  Each flavor was fantastic and the bottle is about 4 servings which makes it perfect for us (the kids don't drink sodas and such).  They have so many flavor choices- we got a sampler pack with the machine which is perfect to test out some of the most popular flavors.  I'm hoping Hubs-To-Be likes the energy flavors, that would really save us some money (he's obsessed with orange Monster's- I think they are called Monster Chaos and they can really get expensive). There are Kool Aid, Country Time, Crystal Light, MyWater and more soda flavors than you'll know what to do with!

Little Monsters Gear Review and Giveaway

I lovingly call my boys my Little Monsters (in fact, K's 2nd birthday party theme was just that).  Little Monsters Gear is a adorable line of cute and quirky monsters who adorn soft shirts and elicit funny laughs from the kids who wear them.  I showed K his shirt with Stinker, who's card describes him as a silly and animated monster always cracking up the other monsters around him (sounds just like my K, actually!), and he laughed and laughed.  He especially got a kick out of Stinker's booty on the back of his shirt- yes!!  Some shirts come with both sfront and back designs; so cute.

Grant got Daredevil, who's description fits both my boys, they certainly will try anything once, twice if it means catching a thrill.  Both shirts were soft and comfy for my boys.  LMG also has onezees, bibs, burp clothes and more and you can get each item with your monster of choice (Cuddle Bug, Bubba and Princess are just a few other monsters from this site).  There is also the very cool option of using the Monster Builder to create your own monster!  These items are fun an unique just like our kids!

Little Monsters Gear is offering one lucky reader the chance to win their own choice of monster on a onezee or shirt! Enter Below! US and Canada!

Kids and Jeans: New and Gently Used Jeans for Toddlers to Teens

My kids ages are pretty spaced out.  Jelly Bean is 11, K is 3 (almost four, tear), and Baby G is 1.  When we go shopping I have to hit every section in the store.  This can take a long time and can certainly wear down some kiddos.  Imagine how thrilled I was when I found out Jeans And Kids (http://www.kidsandjeans.com/) had jeans from toddlers size to teen sizes!  Now imagine how excited I was when I found out I could purchase new jeans AND gently used jeans for a fraction on the regular cost.

My kids grow so quickly that I am a huge advocate for gently used items if it'll save me some money.  JeansAndKids.com also has a $10 or Less section- be still my heart!  I can get stylish, name brand jeans shipped to me for all three of my kids from one store for such an amazing deal.  The jeans came quickly and my kids look fantastic in them.  Of course, my kiddos look cute in anything, if you ask me!

Jeans And Kids even has One Of A Kind jeans, complete with unique and customized jeans.  My 11 year old loves some extra bling! The site is easy to navigate, you can search by size, style or brand name.  The inventory is always changing so I recommend checking back often!

Cinnastix Inspired Dessert

Easy Cinnamon Pizza Dessert

This is a truly easy dessert recipe.  I tend to have all these ingredients in my home on a regular basis and this sweet treat is done in as little as 15 minutes.  You can have the kiddos help by flattening out the dough and mixing, too!

You'll Need:
Pizza Dough
3 teaspoons melted butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Splash of milk

First, open up your pizza dough.  Am I the only one who can't seem to peel the labels off these things right?  I peel, waiting for that pop to indicate it's opened and it doesn't come.  Then I have to like put pressure on the tube while scrunching my face up in anxious anticipation for that loud pop sound...please tell me I'm not crazy.  Anyways, open up you pizza dough and place it on your lightly greases pizza pan/cookie sheet (I forgot to grease the pan just a tiny bit and later it was a bit difficult to remove said dessert...).

Brush the melted butter over the dough and pop in the preheated oven (preheat to whatever the dough package indicates) for 4 minutes. While the dough is pre-cooking take your sugar and cinnamon and mix in a small bowl.  The sugar and cinnamon mixture is totally up to your preference- the measurements above are totally a suggestion.

Next, pull the dough out and sprinkle (or drench, again, it's up to you) the dough/butter with the cinn/sugar mixture.  We go all the way to the ends but you can leave a crust if you like.  Put this back into the oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown.  You want your cinnamon and sugar mixture to have created a bit of a delicious melted type crust.

While the dessert pizza is cooking you can make your frosting or glaze.  Take the powdered sugar and mix with a splash of milk.  You want the consistency of thin icing.  If you put too much milk in, no worries, just add more powdered sugar.  If you've never made this kind of icing just be aware, a little milk goes a LONG way.  When your dessert pizza is perfect, take it out and immediately drizzle the icing over.  Try to wait a minute or two, to avoid burning your mouth, then DIG IN!

Warning:  You will eat more than you originally planned.

What are some of your favorite desserts that include cinnamon?  My boys love cinnamon!

Tips for Getting Freebies and Samples

Samples are a great tool for companies and awesome for us as customers (I cannot tell you how many times I've been saved by samples. Ran out of toothpaste? Grab the sample! Heading out of town? Samples take up less room in your bag!). Here are my top tips to helping make freebies and mostly samples work for you.

1. Create a new email account.
You'll thank me later, I promise. When you sign up to recieve freebies the marketing team, company, whoever will almost always ask for an email. You don't want all those offers clogging up your personal email account. (I also use this special email for things like Groupon, Living Social and websites like these)

2. Pick a spot in your home to hold all those freebies.
Samples are almost always small. If you are collecting samples and freebies make sure you've dedicated a place for them. For example, I have a basket in a drawer in the bathroom that holds all the toiletries I've accumulated. In my pantry I keep samples mostly in the spice basket (yes, I said spice basket, I'm currently working on a new system ;)). Makeup samples, truthfully, get thrown in my makeup container (well, usually in it...sometimes things end up around it. Close enough, right? :)).

Beauty Box 5: Falls Short This Month

If you know anything about me; you know I love beauty and makeup products.  I especially love the fairly new trend of beauty box subscriptions.  You pay monthly, seasonally, yearly etc and receive beauty and makeup items with each box.  Beauty Box 5 has so much potential but unfortunately, I was fairly disappointed in the box and items I received.

Beauty Box 5 is a great price point at only $12/month it's something we all can afford.  The box comes with 4-5 sample sizes of products each month.  I love the idea of receiving samples from new to me brands and of course brands I'm familiar with already.  You can see a list of the brand they work with regularly on the site. I was really excited.  I received my box but truly out of the five items I was only excited about one item.  The Bodyography Primer was a new to me brand in a product I like- I'm a huge fan of primer if you want your makeup to stay put for more than a couple hours.  I used the product first and I hate to say it but I broke out horribly the next day.  I am acne prone, though, so I'm sure not everyone would react that way.  I have heard wonderful things about the Bodyography brand too, I am sad this was my first experience with them.

I got a decent sized loose shadow from Ofra which I can use; it's a dark color called Diamond Glitz and I'm not floored by it but I can use it to create a smoky eye for going out with Hubs-to-be. The other three items are useless to me. Blum facial tissues are not right for my skin type.  BB5 doesn't ask anywhere any specifics about the customer or their likes, dislikes, skin type etc.  I think adding just a couple of questions to help define the needs of the clients may be extremely beneficial to making BB5 much better.  I also received a tiny sized product called City Lips.  From what I can tell, it came with a small card indicating City Lips uses collagen peptides and Hyaluronic acid, it's meant to help plump lips.  Unfortunately, my experience with similar products has left me unsatisfied with these types of products but of course I tried it out.  I'm still not a fan.

Lastly, another innovative product, I quite prefer more classic kinds of beauty supplies and items.  This one was from Blinc, essentially, it's mascara, without being mascara.  Confused?  Me too.  Here's what the back of the product says, "Blinc mascara is the original mascara invented to form tiny water resistant 'tubes' around your lashes...".  Truth?  This product description freaks me out.  Apparently, Upon, removal, you will actually see the tiny tubes in your hand".  Call me old fashion, but no thanks.

I really wish BB5 had a way to take into account at least a few important facts about each client.  I know this box differed from other boxes that went out this month so they definitely have other products they could be using for the clients who like different types of things. I feel like no thought really went into making this box, including both 'new' or innovative types of products (City Lips and Blinc) seemed like a poor choice for one box with only 5 items.  Beauty box subscriptions always have the potential to be hit or miss; but Beauty Box 5 was absolutely a miss for me this time around.

Check out Beauty Box 5 for more information.

My Wedding Hair and Makeup

Harmony Medina/Harmony Artistry

I introduced you to my wedding planning process in a previous post and have been hard at work trying to make decisions and finalize everything for our destination wedding in Las Vegas.  One thing that was really important to me was finding a hair and makeup artist I was comfortable with who was within my wedding budget and of course, had amazing portfolio images.  I decided I wanted airbrush makeup because I had read it stays put longer; we have a very long day planned and even though it's April, Vegas can get hot.  Plus, side note, I've been dealing with some major adult acne issues lately and I really am worried that's all I'll see in the photos.

I found Harmony Medina and through obsessive google searching extensive research.  I loved what I saw in her portfolio online, she came to the room and the price was exactly right.  I went on the hunt for reviews and was ecstatic when I found positive ones all over the web.  I tried booking her so far in advance her calendar didn't even go that far out (hey, I'm a planner.  If I had waited as she'd been scooped up I would've been furious with myself).  I emailed her and we set up the appointment.  My bridal party waited and now she's booked for right after my appointment- the good news for my girls is, I have no requirements on their hair and makeup; they can do whatever they feel comfy with (I do ask they don't do the same hairstyle as me; but that's not too bride-zilla, right?).  I'll be doing a trial the Thursday before which is perfect because I'll be going out with my girls that night!  I don't have reviews yet but you know I'll share them after the wedding! I'm thinking hair half up half down...

You can find more info about Harmony and her amazing work here: http://harmonyartistry.weebly.com/

Tip: Plan ahead.  Especially if you have a tight budget.  You can't wait until the last minute to plan with a tight budget and here's why:

The budget already limits your options. Waiting will only limit them more
How did you wear your hair for your wedding?  Did you do it yourself?  I want some wedding hair and makeup stories! Post them below! :)

Etsy Shop Love: Tailored Made

I stumbled upon Tailored Made during one of my very frequent 'window shopping' excursions on Etsy.  This shop reminded me of why I love Etsy so much.  The items in Tailored Made are unique garments that you can purchase already designed or custom.  I fell in love with the bras and underwear and immediately thought how great it would be for my honeymoon.  But Tailored Made has amazing items perfect for Valentine's Day, too!  Let's be honest.  What more could your signifigant other want for Valentine's Day than you in a beautifully designed set?

She has gorgeous items ready to be purchased in the shop or if you'd rather something made just for you you can simply convo her and work together to create the perfect set or corset.  I opted for something custom and explained it would be for my mini-moon right after our destination wedding.  We collaborated and decided white with white and silver embellishments would be fantastic.  She asked my bra size and got to work right away.  It took less than 2 weeks and I had my beautifully done bra and panty set (which is now hiding so Hubs-To-Be won't find it, as I hope it'll be a surprise!).

Don't forget to like her on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/TailoredMadeEtsy

HBL Volumizing System Giveaway!

HBL Volumizing System Giveaway and Review!

Review done by : Real Reviews by Savvy K
Do you have problems with lifeless hair? I know I do. HBL Hair Care is a great company that has awesome hair care products for your every need. I had the wonderful chance to review this amazing HBL Volumizing Hair Care System and even giveaway one! The giveaway will last from 1/19/13 - 2/2/13

I loved that the shampoo left my hair feeling clean. I have oily hair, where I have to shampoo everyday. This shampoo really left my hair feeling clean and ready to soak up some moisture with the conditioner! It doesn't have the foam thickness and suds when lathering like a drugstore shampoo might have, but I kind of liked that. The conditioner was really quite amazing as well. Unlike the shampoo, this conditioner is very thick. You only need a very small bit for your hair which is great because it will last and last. The one thing to keep in mind is that the smell may be a shock to you. I am used to drugstore shampoos that don't smell much but clean and fresh. The HBL shampoo and conditioners both smelled perfumey, much like that at a salon. After a few days of using it though, I have barely noticed it.

The HBL Hair Masque has to be my favorite of the three. The HBL Hair Masque is used in the shower instead of the conditioner to really give you those soft ends that you can't help but touch all day long! The first day I used this, my fiance immediately noticed a difference and said the my hair felt really soft. I had to make him stop petting me because he liked it so much lol. It really has made such a difference in my hair and I can't wait to continue using it!
HBL has graciously allowed Real Reviews by Savvy K readers along with some of my favorite bloggers' readers to win this great package!
"Perk up limp, lifeless locks with the HBL Volumizing System. Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner gently cleanse and provide lightweight conditioning while the hbl Hair Masque delivers a moisture boost without weighing down your hair. A $62.90 Retail Value! "

Pourty; Encouraging Potty Training

Baby G has been showing interest in potty training for a long time.  He's only 18 months so my expectations are not outrageous.  His brother, K, was 2 1/2 years old when he quickly became interested and potty trained fast.  Baby G wants to do everything like brother, though, and I think that has a lot to do with his interest in the potty.  Regardless, we are encouraging but not pushing.

With K I had one of those little pottys with three separate pieces so cleaning it was a huge pain.  It needed cleaning and sanitizing often and taking each part off (and finding hidden 'suprises' within the layers) really annoyed me.  We switched K to a potty seat on our toilet quickly.  Baby G isn't big enough to sit on a potty seat on the toilet so I thought I'd have to deal with one of those contraptions again.  Until I heard about the Pourty!  It's all one piece so it's much easier to clean.  Also it has a high splash guard, something I always had issues with when potty training K.

When it arrived Baby G knew immediately what to do.  He loved it!  It was cute to see him asking to sit and I was so proud.  In the beginning he kept attempting to sit backwards on the seat but after correcting him a few times he seems to have it now.  The Pourty is small but perfectly sized for our bathroom and for Baby G (and I grow them big, he's almost 30lbs now).  It's less than $15 and has free shipping on Amazon!

He's by no means potty trained.  If and when he does go in the Pourty it's usually a fluke.  We'll continue to encourage him and let him sit when he wants and get up when he wants.  I'm in no rush but I'm glad to have the Pourty for the time that is inevitably coming...when he truly becomes a big boy. It will certainly be bitter sweet.

What techniques did you or do you plan to use when potty training?
